Who We Are

Statement of Faith

We believe in one living, eternal true God who has revealed Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit, with distinct personal attributes, but without division of nature, essence, or being and who alone is worthy of worship. This triune God created all, upholds all and governs all things. God has purposed from eternity to redeem a people for Himself and to make all things new for His glory.

The Bible was written by men divinely inspired by God and is God’s revelation of Himself to man. The Bible is true and without error in all its teachings, including creation, history, its own origins.  The Bible is the standard and final authority by which all Christian belief and behavior must be measured. The Bible alone gives us the answer to our salvation from sin. We believe that the Bible (Word of God) supersedes any earthly law that is contrary to the Holy Scriptures.

Jesus Christ:

We believe that Jesus Christ is true God and true man. He preexisted eternally with the Father, was conceived by the Holy Spirit, born of the virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, died a substitutionary death on the cross for the sins of mankind. We believe he rose bodily from the dead and ascended to heaven where He is presently High Priest and Advocates and interceding for His people at the right hand of the Father. He is the only mediator between God and man and the only means of salvation from our sin. He will return personally and bodily to the earth at the close of this age. He is the world’s only Savior and is the Lord of all.

That God created Adam and Eve in His own image, they were created by and for God. Mankind is dependent upon and accountable to his Creator. They sinned when tempted by Satan through disobedience, and fell from their original state of moral perfection. As a consequence, man brought upon himself and upon the whole human race the penalty for sin, which is spiritual and physical death. Since Adam, every person is born with an inherently sinful nature and becomes a sinner in thought, word and deed. Every person, therefore, stands under the just condemnation of God and is unable to save himself or to present deeds worthy of merit before God. All man is in need of salvation.

Gospel of Jesus Christ:

We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures, as a representative and substitutionary sacrifice; and that all who believe in Him are justified on the basis of His shed blood. We believe that we are saved by grace through faith, apart from works, that the sinner who repents and personally accepts the finished work of Christ on the Cross becomes a child of God, is made a new creature, sins are forgiven, has eternal life and is indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

The Holy Spirit:

We believe that the Holy Spirit, in all that He does, glorifies the Lord Jesus Christ.  He convicts the world of its guilt.  He makes sinners into new creations and in Him they are baptized into union with Christ and adopted as heirs in the family of God.That the Holy Spirit indwells, gives spiritual life to all believers, enables them to understand biblical truth, guides, and empowers them for godly living, and equips them for service and witness.

The Church:

We believe that the Church of Jesus Christ is the universal company of God’s redeemed people. The Bible says the church is His Body, of which He is the head, His Bride, whom He loves infinitely, in which He dwells. This universal Body of Christ is visibly expressed in local assemblies, whose purpose is to glorify God through worship, fellowship, instruction in God’s Word, observing the ordinances and training in service to the world. The supreme task in the mission of the Church is to make disciples for Christ in all the nations through the proclamation and teaching of the Gospel. The Church is also to demonstrate the love and compassion of Christ, through word and deed, in an alienated world.

Jesus Christ Return:

God, in His own time and in His own way, will bring the world to its appropriate end. We believe Jesus Christ is coming again for His church. According to His promise, Jesus Christ will return personally and visibly in glory to the earth and bring salvation and judgment to completion. The dead both righteous and unrighteous will be raised and stand before the throne of God on the judgment day.  Christ will judge all men in righteousness. The unrighteous will be consigned the place of everlasting punishment. The righteous in their resurrected and glorified bodies will receive their reward and will dwell forever in Heaven with the Lord. God will fully manifest His kingdom when He establishes a new heaven and new earth, in which He will be glorified forever.

The Family:

We believe that God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God. (Gen 1:26-27.) Marriage is the uniting of one man and one woman in covenant commitment for a lifetime. It is God’s unique gift to reveal the union between Christ and His church and to provide for the man and the woman in marriage the framework for intimate companionship, the channel of sexual expression according to biblical standards, and the means for procreation of the human race. We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture. (Gen 2:18-25.) We believe that God intends sexual intimacy to occur only between a man and a woman who are married to each other. (1 Cor 6:18; 7:2-5; Heb 13:4.)

Christian Life:

We believe that God’s justifying grace must not be separated from His sanctifying power and purpose.  God commands us to love Him supremely and others sacrificially, and to live out our faith with care for another, compassion toward the poor and justice for the oppressed. The goal of the Christian life is to be conformed to the image of Christ. With God’s Word, the Spirit’s power, and fervent prayer in Christ’s name, we are to combat the spiritual forces of evil.  In obedience to Christ’s commission, we are to make disciples among all people, always bearing witness to the gospel in word in deed.

Statement of Final Authority for Matters of Belief and Conduct:

The statement of faith does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality and the proper conduct of mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purpose of Reconciliation Outreach’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy, and discipline, Reconciliation Outreach Board has final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application.
